ROANOKE VALLEY IPMS Virginia Shootout

*OUT-OF-BOX must have instructions with entry (NO EXCEPTIONS)

"REEL MODELS" -Any model of a TV or movie monster subject.  Any decade.

"RETRO" - This category is a throw-back to the original "Shoot-Out" way back when.  Anyone can enter.  However if you belong to a club, then points will be awarded if your model "places".  This category is not eligible for any "Best-Ofs".

SHOOT-OUT AWARD:  This is a long-standing award given out by IPMS Roanoke Valley to other clubs that come to our contest in force.  Various points are given to models entered in the contest and place in the top 3.  At the end of the day, the points are counted and a "Club Award" is given to the club with the most points.  This concept promotes fellowship between the different clubs and gives the club winning...."bragging rights"....until the next show.

"OUT-OF-BOX" entries will be governed by the following rules:

A. KITS:  Any non-photo-etch / resin commercially available kit may be used.

B. FINISH:  All finishing techniques are allowed.  Decals other than those included with the kit may be used.  Weathering is permitted.

C. CONSTRUCTION:  The modeler may fill seams and gaps; sand off rivets; drill out gun ports, exhaust pipes or other appropriate openings; thin to scale such parts as trailing edges, flaps and doors; add rigging and antennas; add simple tape or decal seatbelts in the cockpit or the interior of an aircraft or vehicle (NO commercial or modeler manufactured hardware; --e.g. buckles, etc.)

D. IT IS NOT PERMITTED: To vacuform, manufacture or replace any part or substitute parts from another kit; cut or separate canopies, surfaces, hatches, doors, etc. (no major surgery); combine a standard kit with a conversion kit; add anything other than specified on the instruction sheet except as shown in Section C above.

E. INSTRUCTION SHEETS: Modelers must attach the kit instruction sheet to the entry form.  Models entered without the attached kit instruction sheet will not be considered for an Out-of-Box award.  NO EXCEPTIONS.
